Adi Kailash

Adi Kailash

Adi Kailash (Popularly known as Chotta Kailash and one of the Panch Kailash)is in many ways replica of the better known Mt. Kailash in Tibet, especially in appearance. Adi-Kailash, however is in Indian Territory close to the Indo-Tibetan border, it is an area of great natural beauty, peace and serenity. Men and women, tired by the incessant roar of urban life, will find here a healing quietude, conducive to looking inward and discoursing with one’s inner self. At the very foot of Mt. Kailash is Gauri kund, whose water reflects the mountain itself. Close by is Parvati Sarovar, also called ‘Mansarovar’ but much smaller than the original, on the bark of the sarovar local people have erected a temple to Shiva and parvati. When we enter this magical place, for the moment you feel that why the God choose this place for their abode.
OM Parvat: From Kalapani where the Kali river originates and then on to Nabidhang (3987 m) (Lipu pass is only 9 kms ahead). At Nabidhang we can see “Aum Parvat” a miracle of nature, snow lies in the mountain in the shape of a perpetual “Aum” the primordial sound. All other slopes may be bare but this inscription in snow is everlasting and as one observes it, one gets the feeling that the mountain itself is Lord Shiv incarnate-the destroyer, showing himself in a rare glimpse. One can see white (snow) Aum on black background.
If we believe our revered saints and sages, then there are a total of 8 mountain chains in the whole of India, in which Om-shape is visible, but out of those 8 mountain chains, to date, only one mountain has been found in which Om-shape is visible. Adi Kailash is a mountain peak located in the Himalayas, on the border between India and Tibet. It is the highest peak of the group of mountains known as the Kailash Range, which is part of the Trans-Himalaya in the westernmost part of Tibet. This magical mountain Adi Kailash is situated at an altitude of 5,945 meters in the Dharchula district. It is known for its strong religious and adventure associations.
The peak is sacred to both Hindus and Tibetans and is considered to be the abode of Lord Shiva in Hinduism. In Hinduism, Adi Kailash is considered to be the abode of Lord Shiva, one of the principal deities of the Hindu pantheon. According to Hindu legend, Lord Shiva sits in a state of perpetual meditation on the summit of the mountain, surrounded by his consort, Parvati, and their children, Ganesha and Kartikeya. It is believed that a pilgrimage to Adi Kailash, also known as Kailash Parvat or Kailasa, will bring blessings and liberation from the cycle of reincarnation.
It is a land of peace and tranquility. According to the Shiva Purana, it is said that Lankapati King Ravana was a great devotee of Shiva and meditated on Shiva after coming here. Lord Shiva, being more pleased with his worship, granted Lankapati Ravana the power of mind along with 20 arms and 10 heads. This journey will take you to Jageshwar, Pithoragarh, and Patal Bhubaneswar along with Kalapani, Kuti, Om Parvat, and Adi Kailash. So you will get a beautiful adventure and all the flavors of spirituality. Here you will find beautiful temples, snow-capped mountains, meadows, silky streams, waterfalls, beautiful Bugyal-hilly areas, and a river showing its power and peace.
